Waste Facilities

Stage 3 changes to waste services - limiting the spread of Covid-19

Following the State Government’s announcement of Stage 3 restrictions for Victoria, Bass Coast Shire Council has made some changes to its waste services, to ensure the ongoing safety of its employees and the community.

Waste Facilities remain open, but in accordance with State Government directions you should avoid travel unless for essential purposes only. Please avoid attending waste facilities unless your visit is for one of the following reasons:

• Businesses and commercial waste disposal; or

• Waste disposal for Bass Coast residents who do not receive a kerbside collection service.

Proof of residence must now be provided when attending any of Bass Coast’s waste facilities – this can be in the form of a driver’s licence, rates notice, utility bill or similar.

Green kitchen caddy liners are no longer available. Food waste can be put straight into your Organics Bin, there is no requirement for it to be wrapped – try using a bowl, tub or bucket and tip directly into your bin. Alternatively, try lining your caddy liner with newspaper

While these changes could be inconvenient, Council acknowledges that there is a need to protect the health of our community.

Please contact Council’s Waste Services Team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211 if you have any questions on how to manage your waste during these challenging times.
