Miners Drive, Wonthaggi

Council has appointed Super Paving Pty Ltd to construct a new footpath along the west side of Miners Drive between McKenzie Street and Brudenhall Terrace in Wonthaggi. The new footpath is part of a multi-staged project which would continue from Brudenhall Terrace to the existing footpath network near Beveridge Close. Any future stage of works will be subject to funding within future Capital Works Programs.

The aim of this project is to improve access for pedestrians and will give residents along the street, and the greater area, a safe pedestrian connection from the proposed new and specialist schools through to the main shopping areas within Wonthaggi. Additional footpath extension works outside the new school will be undertaken as part of the Wonthaggi Secondary College project.

The works will involve:

  • vegetation clearing to allow for the construction of the new footpath
  • construction of a 1.5 metre, fibre reinforced, concrete path and service adjustments for water, power and Telstra services, as required
  • replacement of existing driveways (property numbers 4,8, 20 and 22 Miners Drive) to allow for the correct cross fall and match new levels for the path.

This project was funded under Council's Footpath Gaps Program in the order of $70,000. Due to the cost savings in stage 1, an extension of this path will be constructed and completed before the end of financial year. More details to come.
