Bayview Avenue, Inverloch

Bayview_Avenue

Council has appointed Super Paving (Vic.) Pty Ltd to construct a new footpath and bus shelter along frontage of the Inverloch Recreation Reserve on Bayview Avenue, Inverloch between Reilly Street and Sandy Mount Avenue. The aim of this project is to improve access for pedestrians and increase the number of footpaths, lanes and pathways for the community. These works will give the local primary schools and residents along the streets, and greater area, a safe pedestrian connection. A new bus shelter will be located within the area and will be Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliant.

The works will involve:

  • construction of a 2 metre wide fibre reinforced concrete path (about 200 metres long) and service adjustments as required. This new path will connect the existing path network at Sandy Mount Avenue to the school crossing on Bayview Avenue.
  • Upgrade of existing bus shelter located on Bayview Avenue.

We acknowledge it can be challenging to deliver works without affecting road users, business/school operations and general public access. It is intended to carry out as much of the works as possible during the school holiday period to minimise disruption to school buses/parents and general road users. Our contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions, and adjacent landowners/businesses and school operations will be notified via letter drops where appropriate.

Update: The new bus shelter has been ordered and is currently being fabricated. It is expected to be installed in the next two weeks subject to contractor availability. Thank you for your patience

Status

Works are expected to start early January 2019 and be completed by the end of January 2019, subject to favourable weather and contractor availability.

Cost

These works are co-funded in the order of $66,000 by VicRoads for the new footpath and Public Transport Victoria for the bus shelter.
