The creation of the Masterplan will take approximately six months and will include consultation with the community and stakeholders.
Project Aims
- To develop a world class Dinosaur Trail of learning and creativity integrated with the local environment
- Elevate the Bass Coast region as a year round tourism destination
- Provide a unique attraction by drawing on the significance of the region’s prehistoric heritage
- To educate residents and visitors about the diversity of polar dinosaur fossils and prehistoric fauna found in the region
- To transport visitors back 125 million years via an immersive storytelling experience sharing scientific value and cultural memories.
- The project will see the commission and installation of significant artworks and informational sites located along the route
- The Dinosaur Trail will intersect at key points with the Yallock-Bulluk Marine Coastal Park
About the Project
- The Dinosaur Trail will offer cultural, educational, sensory and curatorial creative art experiences
- The Dinosaur Trail is a theme that runs through the Yallock-Bulluk Marine Coastal Park – two different initiatives with great synergies
- The key sites along the trail will be accessible by car and can also be accessed by foot or bike
- The trail will offer a key tourism experience where visitors can step in and out of the Dinosaur Trail experiences on offer and interact with local business and accommodation offerings in the region
- Bass Coast has the most diverse range of polar dinosaur fossils and unique prehistoric fauna in the world
- It is one of the most significant places in Australia for the discovery of dinosaur fossils
- We will advocate through regional tourism, State and Federal Government to fully fund the project
- It is a community-led major project managed by Council, that involves over 40 years of scientific research in the local area
