Cr Leticia Laing
Cr Laing has lived in the Bass Coast Shire with her husband and three young children for the past five years.
Originally from Melbourne, Cr Laing completed a Law/Arts degree at La Trobe University before pursuing a career as a journalist.
Her work led her to India for an internship and for six years in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia before returning to Victoria and working in regional news in South Gippsland.
Working in local news Cr Laing was instilled with a passion for learning from communities about their issues that need redress, recognition or celebration.
With experience in the public service and extensive connections to local community groups, Cr Laing has enjoyed being involved in groups including the Cape Paterson Surf Life Saving Club, Nature Adventures Playgroup and the Bass Coast Climate Action Network.
Cr Laing said she recognises the Bass Coast Shire as one of the most pristine parts of the world and is excited about working with the community to ensure it can grow sustainably while protecting it for current and future generations.
