Wonthaggi Public Art Commission (2022)
Wonthaggi Public Art Commission- submissions closed
Commission value - $40,000
We recently extended an invitation to suitably experienced artists to create a contemporary public artwork to be situated in the township of Wonthaggi.
Artists were invited to submit design concepts that will deliver an innovative and engaging creative artwork that speaks to the theme of 'Transitions'.
Artists needed to propose the preferred site/s within the township. Three potential locations have been identified as suitable sites by Council and the Community Working Group. Depending on the nature of the work proposed, the artist may select a single site or an array of smaller discreet locations scattered across the town.
The Wonthaggi Public Art Commission is being delivered as part of Council’s annual Public Art Program.
Background
The Wonthaggi Public Art Commission is scheduled for the 2021/22 financial year and has a budget of $46,000. From the EOI, three submissions will be selected to proceed to be paid to develop a proposal. From this shortlist a final proposal will be awarded the commission of $40,000.
In line with the Bass Coast Shire Council Public Art Sites and Themes Plan 2014-2024, the artwork should be site-specific and represent the local area.
The project will be delivered in accordance with our Public Art Principles and Specifications for Public Art.
