Heritage Gaps Study
We are currently undertaking a review of the Shire’s post-contact heritage, a period focusing on our history from first contact between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people through to today. As part of this Study, we asked the community to nominate heritage places that should be considered. Nominations are now closed. Each nomination will now be reviewed to determine its heritage significance and whether or not a detailed heritage assessment is required.
What is a heritage place?
A heritage place may be a site, area, building, group of buildings, structure, monument, archaeological site, tree, garden, landscape, geological formation or other place of natural or cultural significance and its associated land.
Heritage objects may include furniture, memorials, collections, shipwrecks, relics, archaeological artefacts, equipment, transport vehicles and everyday articles that contribute to an understanding of a place’s history.
