Amendment C153 proposed to apply the Public Acquisition Overlay to land for the purpose of reserving and acquiring it for public open space.
The amendment affects land at the southwest corner of the intersection of Phillip Island and Ventnor Roads, Cowes, being Lot 1 PS 706350M.
The Bass Coast Planning Scheme sets out the policies and requirements for the use, development and protection of land within Bass Coast Shire. From time to time, a need arises to change, or ‘amend’ a planning scheme. Planning Scheme Amendments can be changes to the maps, written text or incorporated documents of planning schemes.
This amendment proposed applying the Public Acquisition Overlay (PAO) to the subject land. The PAO identifies land that is proposed to be acquired for a public purpose and has the effect of reserving that land under the Land Acquisition and Compensation Act 1986. In this instance, the PAO is proposed to be used for the purpose of reserving and acquiring the land to establish and enhance the public open space network on Phillip Island.
