Mayor's Message - 11 August
We are now one week in to another six-week stint of Stage 3 “Stay-at-Home” Restrictions and while it’s not the way we were hoping things would go, it is familiar territory. We have been here before, we know how to do this and we’re really good at doing it.
It’s encouraging to see the infection numbers in Bass Coast remain low. If we keep working together, following the rules around physical distancing, hand hygiene and staying at home unless we have a good reason, we’re going to get those numbers down even more. Most importantly, we’ll be saving lives.
Please, at the first sign of symptoms, no matter how mild, get tested and head straight home. Remember this virus is sneaky and you might not show symptoms. Until you get your results to say you’re negative, you have to go home and self-isolate so you don’t put anyone else at risk. It’s the right thing to do for your loved ones, your workmates and your community.
You can get tested at:
- The Phillip Island Health Hub in Church Street, Cowes
- The Wonthaggi Medical Group in Biggs Drive
- And the drive-through testing at Wonthaggi Hospital
Remember, Stage 3 “Stay-at-Home” Restrictions mean that there are only four reasons for leaving you home: essential shopping, work or education if you can’t do so from home, medical care and exercise. Please keep checking the Department of Health and Human Services website for the most up-to-date and correct advice.
