Landslip works underway

A minor landslip on Loch Wonthaggi Road, 300 metres north of Bakers Road is currently under repair.

Loch Wonthaggi Road is a rural link road, which is Bass Coast Shire Council’s highest level rural road and provides key linkages across the Shire. This road services public commuters, agricultural, dairy and school buses.

Work has started on the project, which is expected to take up to two weeks to complete, subject to favourable weather and contractor availability. These works are being jointly funded by Council and State Government in the order $100,000.

The works will involve the construction of a retaining wall structure up to 30 metres long, including subsoil drainage lines, placement and compaction of locally sourced structural type fill to replace the batter slope including placement of crushed rock behind the retaining wall and asphalt sealing works as required.

Council appreciates that these works may present an inconvenience to road users and asks for patience during these times. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place and road users may experience some short traffic delays during the works.
