The flu is a highly contagious viral infection that can cause severe illness and life-threatening complications, including pneumonia. The flu doesn't discriminate and anyone can be affected.

Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari said that it’s really important for everyone in the community to play their part in helping to stop the spread of the flu.

“It's as easy as following three steps: cough or sneeze into your elbow, wash your hands regularly and if you're sick, avoid going to work or school, visiting vulnerable people or busy public places,” Cr Tessari said.

For more information on immunisation sessions contact Council's Immunisation Administration Officer on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211 or visit www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/immunisation.
