How to dispose of face masks and gloves

Published:
Friday 31 July 2020

Wearing a face covering while outside of your home is now mandatory across Victoria.

While many are choosing to use re-usable masks, single-use masks and gloves are also a popular, cost-effective option.

It is very important that single-use face coverings and gloves are disposed of correctly and responsibly.

Single-use masks and gloves must be put in your red-lidded general waste bin and not in your recycling or organics bins.

You should always wash or sanitise your hands immediately after handling face coverings or gloves, and touching rubbish bins.

If you have any questions or concerns about disposing of waste, please contact Council’s Waste Services Team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211.

Bin with mask
Do as Larry Landfill does and put your disposable face coverings and gloves in the rubbish bin – never in your recycling or organics bin.
