Get rid of green waste, for free!
If you live in, or own a property in Bass Coast - now is the perfect time to start cleaning up in preparation for the upcoming fire season.
Bass Coast Shire Council’s annual fee-free green waste disposal period is on from now until Sunday, 22 November, to encourage residents and property owners to tidy up their properties.
You can dispose of domestic sized loads of green waste at Council’s Transfer Stations at Grantville, Wonthaggi and Inverloch and at the Cowes Recycling Bank. Facility locations and opening times are available at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/wastefacilities.
Weed species including blackberry, English ivy, agapanthus, mirror bush and plants that cannot be mulched such as palm fronds are not included in the fee free period, however these can go in your kerbside Organics (green lid) bin.
Don’t forget to keep your mask on at all times and please be patient when attending Council’s waste facilities; social distancing measures are in place and there may be long delays. Please stay in your vehicle until directed by an attendant.
In periods of high demand, a facility may close 30 minutes before the scheduled closing time, to allow for the unloading of vehicles already on site. This will help ensure operations do not extend beyond the closing time.
Waste facilities are not currently accepting cash payments - please use a debit or credit card if you have other waste to dispose of.
For more information please contact Council’s Waste Services Team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211, or visit www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/greenwaste.
