Get ready for summer with fee-free green waste disposal
Bass Coast Shire Council’s annual fee-free green waste disposal period is held to encourage residents and property owners to tidy up in preparation for summer and the fire season.
Running from Saturday, 30 October until Sunday, 22 November, you can dispose of green waste at Council’s Transfer Stations at Grantville, Wonthaggi and Inverloch and at the Cowes Recycling Bank. Facility locations and opening times are available at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/wastefacilities.
Weed species and plants that cannot be mulched such as blackberry, English ivy, agapanthus, mirror bush and palm fronds are not included in the fee-free period, however these can go in your kerbside Organics (green lid) bin.
Council's Waste Facilities remain open for residents of regional Victoria and Travel Permit holders only. Proof of residence is required - bring your drivers licence or other photo identification. Travel Permit holders must provide both photo identification and their Council-issued Permit.
Please remember to wear a mask at all times when visiting Council’s waste facilities and please be patient; physical distancing measures are in place and there may be long delays. Please stay in your vehicle until directed by an attendant.
In periods of high demand, a waste facility may close 30 minutes before the scheduled closing time to allow for the unloading of vehicles already on site. This will help ensure operations do not extend beyond the closing time.
For more information please contact Council’s Waste Services Team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211, or visit www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/greenwaste.
