Get informed about Grants
Applications are now open for Round One of Bass Coast Shire Council’s 2020 Community Grants Program.
To help community groups and organisations with their applications, Council is holding two Community Grant Information Sessions.
The first session is at 5.30pm on Wednesday, 15 January at the Phillip Island Visitor Information Centre Meeting Room, on Phillip Island Road in Newhaven.
The second session will be at 5.30pm Tuesday, 28 January at the Old Post Office on Watt Street in Wonthaggi.
To RSVP for the sessions, phone (03) 5671 2412 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
These sessions will provide information about who can apply and what can and cannot be funded, and will also introduce the ‘SmartyGrants’ online application process.
There are three different types of Community Grants. The General Community Grant is for up to $5,000 for equipment or other projects to assist community groups with activities and promotion. The Festivals, Celebrations and Events Grant is for up to $5,000 to support community groups to run local community events. The Minor Capital Works Grant is for up to $5,000 to fund small-scale community infrastructure developments.
There is also one major project funded in each round, for between $5,001 and $10,000. Major Project applications are accepted under any of the grant categories, except the sub-category of equipment.
In 2019, Council distributed around $299,000 to over 100 community groups through its Community Grants Program.
Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari said it is fantastic to see a large number of applications being submitted for each round of the Community Grants Program.
“We are proud to have this grants program to support our community groups and organisations and the response to it has been amazing,” Cr Tessari said.
“With the funding they receive, these groups are able to provide a variety of different programs and events to benefit all of Bass Coast.”
