Date night the Best Start for early years
Bass Coast Shire Council and Best Start are planning a ‘date night’ for early years’ services to strengthen relationships across the sector.
The ‘date night’ event will be held at the Kernot Store on Wednesday, 17 October from 4:30 to 6:30pm, is free to attend and will include delicious wood-fired pizzas.
The event is for anyone working in the early years or family support sector and transport can be provided to and from the event from Wonthaggi and Anderson.
The ‘date night’ follows a recent workshop run by Bass Coast Health Best Start Facilitator Kylie Pollard, which over 40 early years staff from across the community attended.
Workshop participants identified an opportunity to increase knowledge of services and the resources available to families and children.
Bass Coast Shire Council is one of several Best Start partners across Bass Coast and South Gippsland.
Best Start aims to strengthen the early childhood service sector, so that children have the best start in life.
Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Pamela Rothfield said that Council’s role in the Best Start partnership helps improve outcomes for families and for children.
“We know that when services work together and have a good understanding of the needs and resources available to all families, that children’s health and wellbeing outcomes improve,” she explained.
Ms Pollard is looking forward to supporting the ‘date night’. Kylie said the night will be full of fun and will provide an opportunity to get to everyone across the early years sector together.
“Services are so busy with the day-to-day of their work that they don’t always have time to connect with othersandultimately, we are all working towards the same goal,” she said
“The end goal is to improve outcomes for all children and families.”
