Bass Coast Shire Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experienced artists to create a contemporary public artwork for Cowes.

Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Michael Whelan, explained that the key aim for the commission is to provide an invitation that welcomes everyone to the culturally dynamic and activated Cowes town centre.

‘We want the local community and visitors to Cowes to see this work as a symbol of the cultural vitality of the township. We hope it becomes an additional attraction to the area,” Cr Whelan said.

“We’re looking for creativity that reflects the development of Cowes as a contemporary cultural centre.”

Artists are required to register their interest by submitting a portfolio of previous works and an online application by close on Sunday, 15 January 2023.

Artists can access more information, the EOI guidelines and application on Council’s website at https://www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/explore/arts-and-culture/opportunities-for-artists/public-art-opportunities
