Bass Coast Shire Council is seeking community feedback on the San Remo Cemetery Draft Masterplan.

A targeted stakeholder consultation process was conducted in February and March to inform the Draft Masterplan, which was completed by cemetery specialists, Florence Jaquet Landscape Architect and Changing Places.

The Masterplan recognises the role of the cemetery over the next 50 to 100 years.

The Masterplan aims to provide a scenic and contemplative setting for funerals, as well as the wider community.

It has been designed as a park, capitalising on views and the cemetery's rich history and offers walking paths, respite areas, toilet and shelter facilities. The Masterplan also offers a range of new non-denominational memorialisation options among the existing ones, softening the segregated and denominational layout of the original cemetery.

The plans can be viewed online at Council's website, at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/cemeteries and hard copies are available at Council's Customer Service Centres in Wonthaggi, Grantville, Inverloch and Cowes.

To provide feedback on the Draft Masterplan, submissions can be made in writing and sent to Landscape Architect Florence Jaquet, 8 Rowell Avenue, Camberwell, VIC 3124 or email flo@fjla.com.au.

Submissions need to be made by 5.00pm on Monday, 3 June 2019.
