Bass Coast Community Awards

The Bass Coast Community Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding individuals or groups who consistently go above and beyond in their contribution to the Bass Coast community.

Categories

  1. Community Leader Award – outstanding individuals who in their profession or as a volunteer, lead by example, inspire others and demonstrate excellence and commitment in their field.
  2. Next Generation Leader Award - exceptional young people who demonstrate leadership and courage and have made an outstanding contribution to the Bass Coast Community and inspire others (group or individual, aged between 12 and 25 years)
  3. Community Group Award – a Bass Coast community group, sports club, or not-for-profit organisation, which provides support, events, fundraising or services for the benefit of the Bass Coast community and its residents.
  4. Environment and Sustainability Award – outstanding contributions towards the protection or enhancement of Bass Coast’s natural environment, advocating for climate action and for embracing sustainable living (group or individual)

Judging

Nominations for each award will be judged by a judging panel, including, the Bass Coast Community Awards Committee, which involves the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, delegated Councillor and Community Leader Award winner from the previous year.

Deadline for entries is 5pm Tuesday 11 April 2023.

Who you can nominate

Individuals being nominated must:

  • Be a Bass Coast resident
  • Have contributed greatly to the Bass Coast community
  • Be outstanding and show respect in their dealings with others
  • Be between 12 and 25 years of age as of 15 May 2023 if nominated for Bass Coast Next Generation Leader Award

Community group nominations must:

  • Be based in Bass Coast
  • Have contributed greatly to the Bass Coast community
  • Be a not-for-profit or incorporated organisation

Who you can't nominate

  • Self-nominations for individuals (group self-nominations are accepted)
  • Nominations for current Bass Coast Shire Council staff
  • Nominations for current or past Bass Coast Shire Councillors (within five years since serving as a Councillor)
  • School volunteer groups are ineligible. Individual students or staff can be nominated however groups of pupils/staff from schools are ineligible.

We also cannot accept:

  • Incomplete nomination forms
  • Nominations received after the specified closing date

Those nominated and those who submit a nomination will receive an invitation to attend the Bass Coast Community Awards presentation ceremony on Monday 15 May 2023.
