Project Update 6 March 2018

Orchestra PitAuditorium

The Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre Renewal Project is taking shape and is looking fantastic!

Now into the third month of the project, dust and noise have been reduced as the focus from tradies on site has moved from demolition to installation.

In the past weeks the site has undergone significant change including the installation of:

  • the internal well to house the new lift;
  • painting works throughout the auditorium including stage area;
  • new acoustic panelling throughout; cabinetry and linings to bathroom areas;
  • improved orchestra pit access and framework; and
  • electrical and data cabling, ready for the new light and sound equipment.

The next month of this project will see TS Constructions continue their work with stage flooring, air ducting (Williams and Burns), stage roof replacement, the finishing of bathrooms and several improvements to the foyer and external areas of the Centre.

HME Services will be on site completing the new rigging, light and sound installation as per the detailed design, with carpet and seating to follow soon after.

The project is planned to be completed by the end of April, with the Centre set to re-open just before the Wonthaggi Theatrical Group’s production of The Boy from Oz.
