Your Place, Your Plan, Your Future

5 November 2009

Bass Coast Shire Council is inviting Cape Paterson residents to take part in a series of community planning workshops that will provide an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of their community.

Council’s Community Planning Facilitator, Paul Greco, said all ratepayers in the area should have received a questionnaire and letter inviting them to participate.

“We encourage renters in the area to participate and they should contact Council for information,” said Mr Greco.

“The first workshop will be held on Sunday, 15 November from 11.00am-1.30pm at the Cape Paterson Community Hall, so there is some time for people to set aside an afternoon and get involved.”

Council secured funding from the Department of Planning and Community Development to work with communities on the development of local community plans.

“We have people in the community with a lot of great ideas. This is an opportunity to come along and share knowledge about resources that already exist, discuss what else is needed and develop plans that will enable communities to work together to help meet these needs.”

After beginning in Inverloch, the Community Planning process has extended to four Phillip Island communities and now Cape Paterson.  A second workshop will be held on Sunday, 6 December at 11am.  Future meeting venues and times will be determined by the community members involved.

“If you’re unable to attend the first workshop please contact us, as we have developed a simple questionnaire so you can still share your ideas or make comments,” encouraged Mr Greco.
