Attractions
Wonthaggi is located 128 kilometres south-east of Melbourne. This thriving township offers a large variety of shops, eateries, accommodation and attractions. Sporting interests are well catered for with an excellent golf course, bowling greens, tennis and squash courts and heated indoor pool. There are several beaches close by including beautiful Harmer's Haven which is a great spot for long walks or family fossicking through the rocks. Walk or cycle along The Bass Coast Rail Trail - Victoria's only coastal rail trail. Stretching 16 kilometres from Wonthaggi to Anderson, it highlights the area's rich coal mining history and offers some magnificent views. Explore the Wonthaggi Wetlands, the North School Wild Flowers Reserve, the Old Rescue Station and the State Coal Mine above Ground Walk - all easy short walks with wheelchair access.
