'Seam' designed by Shane Cargill and sculptor Martin Moore is proudly displayed at the Wonthaggi Centennial Centre in Bent Street, Wonthaggi. This sculpture was commissioned as a legacy for the Wonthaggi Centenary.

Visually striking, it also gives the viewer a tactile experience of a coal face.

The works shows the volume of coal each miner was expected to bring above ground each day. Another aspect of the work is a recessed life sized silhouette of a miner lying on his back digging coal from the seam. The location of the sculpture is also significant, as it is stands next to the rail trail, a track that transported the coal to and from Kirrak mine.
