Waste Management

Waste Facilities & Disposal Fees

There are many different ways to dispose of your waste at our Waste Transfer and Recycling Centres. Bass Coast has four Waste Transfer and Recycling Centres (Inverloch, Grantville, Rhyll and Wonthaggi).  There is also a landfill at the Grantville site where private contractors can dispose of larger quantities of waste. Please refer to our information sheet for Locations and Operating Hours (PDF 168kb).

Many people used to refer to a Waste Transfer Station and Recycling Centre as a tip. These facilities now provide a range of opportunities for people to recycle waste rather than tipping into a landfill. Recycling helps protect the environment and our precious resources for the benefit of future generations. Our Recycling page gives details on what can and cannot be recycled.

The Fee Schedule (PDF 104kb) outlines the types of waste that are accepted at each location and the relevant fee. Separated recyclables remain free of charge.  For large Commercial loads that can only be disposed of at Grantville Landfill please see Grantville Tonnage Fee Schedule.

Asbestos WILL NOT be accepted at Rhyll, Wonthaggi or Inverloch. Domestic asbestos will be accepted at the Grantville Landfill ONLY and must comply with the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) regulations. More information about the EPA can be found at www.epa.vic.gov.au. More information on asbestos disposal requirements can be obtained by calling the Grantville Landfill on (03) 5678 8739 or Council on 1300 BCOAST (226 278).

If you have any other waste queries please contact us on 1300 BCOAST (226 278).
