Proposed re-naming of southern section of Carneys Road, Wonthaggi

Council is proposing to change the name of the southern section of Carneys Road in Wonthaggi to Davidson Road. The section of road is shown in the image below.

The re-naming of part of the road is required as the northern and southern sections of Carneys Road are not connected. This could cause delays for emergency services when attempting to locate properties on this road.

Davidson Road has been suggested to commemorate Ruby May Davidson who lived and owned the farm “Mayfield” in Carneys Road. Further information regarding this proposal is available by contacting Council’s Property Team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or 03 5671 2211.

Any person wishing to make a submission should do so in accordance with 'Naming rules for places in Victoria – Statutory Requirements for naming roads, features and localities – 2016' which can be found online at

Submissions giving feedback or providing an alternative name must be in writing and forwarded to Bass Coast Shire Council: In person – 76 McBride Avenue, Wonthaggi, Post – PO Box 118 Wonthaggi VIC 3995 or email –

Submissions will be considered by a Committee of Council. Submissions close on 17 December 2018. Submissions received may be made available to the public.
