Road Occupation Permit
General Information
If you are doing any works within the road reserve you will need a Road Occupation Permit. A road reserve is defined as the area of land between property boundaries, including roads, lanes, carparks, footpaths, bridges, reserves and nature strips.
Typical examples of works that will require a Road Occupation Permit may include, but are not limited to, the construction, alteration or maintenance of:
- crossovers/driveways
- laybacks
- kerb and channel
- culvert crossings
- water/sewerage/power/stormwater connections
- temporary vehicle crossings
- road/footpath occupation
- trees/plantations
- any works in, under or over the road reserve
There are Standard Drawings showing minimum requirements for the above activities. There is also information on Road Occupation Permit Conditions (PDF 79kb), Reinstatement Procedures (PDF 101kb) and an application form (PDF 102kb) which needs to be completed and lodged with Council.
Credit card payments can be made by filling in a form (PDF 74kb) and mailing with your application or in person at any customer service centre. Contact Council’s Asset Protection Officer on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) for further details.
