Roadside Livestock Grazing Permits

You must not allow livestock to graze on any road in the Shire without first obtaining a permit. 

Application Form

An application for a permit (PDF 80kb) can be completed and lodged at any Customer Service Centre. 

Permit Fee

There is an application fee of $100.00 and this should accompany any application. 

Permit Conditions 

If your application is approved, your permit will contain the following conditions:- 

  • grazing is only permitted during daylight hours
  • temporary fencing is not to be placed in front of any property owned by other persons without their permission
  • you will indemnify Council against all claims arising for any loss of damage to any stock owner caused by or through the grazing.   

Electric Fencing

Conditions relating to electric fencing includes that it:-

  • is not to be erected closer than: 

a) two metres from the edge of the road formation. 
b) one metre from the invert of longitudinal drains.  

  • must comply with the Eastern Energy's Wiring Regulations and SAA Approval and Test Specifications Section 1 to 9 - 15959 and the Appendix thereof.  
  • must have a sign in letters not less than 50mm high, clamped to the conductor of fastened to posts at intervals not exceeding 100 metres indicating "Electric Fence".  
  • is to be removed by the applicant within three days of a request in writing to do so from an Authorized Officer or a Local Laws Officer.  

Withdrawal or Amendment of Permit

The permit can be withdrawn or amended at any time by an Authorized Officer or a Local Laws Officer if the conditions of the permit are not complied with.
