Footpath Trading Permit

Footpath trading adds colour and interest to the Shire's townships. The increase in footpath dining and display of goods stands, as well as the traditional A-frame signage, has meant that there is a greater demand on the use of our footpaths.

To ensure easy access for pedestrians, all trading activities on public footpaths must have a permit. Trading without a permit will lead to fines and the offender being taken to court.

Permits are valid from the first of August each year and are valid for one year.

How to Apply

When applying for a new Footpath Trading Permit the following documents must be lodged with Council together with the appropriate permit fee (See pricing table below):

  • A completed and signed Permit Application
  • A completed and signed Indemnity Form
  • A Site Plan with a sketch or diagram of the proposed trading site. This does not have to be accurate, an indication of what you want to place on the footpath and where is sufficient
  • A copy of current Public Liability Insurance policy detailing a minimum of $10 million coverage and the dates covered
  • Copy of current Liquor Licence – if applicable to your business

The Footpath Trading Permit Application Pack provides copies of the appropriate forms and guidelines on how to prepare your permit application.
