Camping Permits
Council's
General Local Law prohibits camping on Council land or in a public place or on private land without a permit from Council. If you wish to camp on Council land, in a public place or on private land you must first complete and submit an
General Permit Application form.
Council considers the following prior to issuing a permit:-
- if the period applied for exceeds the maximum four (4) week period in any one year;
- whether the area applied for being on Council land or in a public place is an area that has been designated as a camping area.
Camping on private land
If the area applied for is on Private land you must satisfy the following requirements:
- the owner's name, street name and number in letters not less than 75mm high must be displayed at the street boundary of the property.
- the owner must provide proper sanitation, bathing and drainage facilities to the satisfaction of the Council. Please note running water must be provided to the site.
- the site must be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition at all times. This also includes adequate refuse bins stored without causing a nuisance and emptied on prescribed days.
The permit must be displayed in a prominent position on the site during its term.
No caravan, tent, toilet, refuse bin or other structure is situated on a site lesser in area than 60sq metres or 24 metres from any road or reserve boundary or 2 metres from any side street or property boundary. At the termination of the permit all caravans, tents, etc. must be removed from the property.
Permit Fees
The General Permit fee of $100.00 plus a fee of $10.00 per week for camping is applicable. Payment of the fee is not due until the permit has been approved.
Fines
Camping without a permit will incur a fine of $250.00.
