Works on Waterways & Drainage Links

The West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority (WGCMA) is responsible for waterway and catchment management across the south-east corner of Victoria, including Bass Coast Shire.

Permits may be required and the WGCMA have provided the following brochures on their website for those stakeholders that may be thinking of doing works on waterways and/or drainage works on their property in Bass Coast.

Find out more about the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority on their website.

The brochures seek to highlight instances where a private landholder is proposing works to waterways and/or drainage works and must first obtain a Works on Waterways Permit.

Any works or activities in, on, or over a designated waterway must have approval from the appropriate Catchment Management Authority through a Works on Waterways Permit.

While on-farm drainage is the responsibility of landholders and land managers it often requires advice from, or the involvement of, a responsible authority.

Council does not issue these permits. Contact must be made direct to the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority on 1300 094 262.
