Planning Permits

Applying for a Permit

Why talk to us first? Early discussion will confirm whether permits are necessary and if so, what kind of permit may be required. Call our Planning Team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) to find out if you need a permit.

Planning permits vs Building permits

Planning Permits are usually required before you undertake any change of land use or development. Building permits generally relate only to the actual construction plans of a building or development. If a planning permit is required, it must be obtained before a building permit can be issued. Both planning and building applications can be made at the same time. Before you start, contact our Planning Team to discuss local planning requirements, the permits you might require (building, planning, subdivision, health etc) and what fees apply and when.

Section 173 Agreement

Section 173 agreement is a legal contract and is a specific requirement set out by Council and any other party as a condition on a Planning Permit.  It is a specific obligation that is required to run with the Title of the land.  You are encouraged to obtain your own legal advice when preparing a Section 173 agreement prior to sending to Council for lodgement.
