Weddings & Functions on Beaches

Council receives a number of requests for people wanting to get married on our beaches and foreshores.

Residents and visitors are welcome to have informal weddings or functions on Bass Coast Shire beaches. An informal wedding is one that does not require structures like tents or marquees, however, it may include a small table and a few chairs for those people unable to stand for a long period. The wedding or function should not interfere with the normal use of the area, including public access.

Council does not take bookings or reserve areas for weddings, and as such there is no cost.

We have developed a set of guidelines to help you find out what you can do for beach weddings and functions.
