Bass Coast residents have the chance to participate in a special community event aimed at reconnecting with the natural world, highlighting the importance of community and harnessing our power to make a difference to the environment.
Bass Coast Shire Council’s Environment Officer, Liza Price, said Council was hosting the event on World Environment Day - Sunday, 5 June.
“The Changing the Dream Symposium is a global education program already reaching out to hundreds of thousands of people across the industrialised worlds,” Ms Price said.
“Designed in partnership with some of the finest scientist and activist minds in the world, the Symposium explores the current state of our planet from a new perspective."
“It connects participants with a powerful global movement to reclaim our future by generating hope, inspiration, purpose and a commitment to individual and collective action."
“Residents will be able to meet with other members of the community who are already taking action including community gardens, Transition Towns and the Westernport Biosphere,” Ms Price continued.
The day will consist of a series of workshop sessions, presentations and small group breakout sessions.
The Changing the Dream Symposium will be held from 1.00-6.00pm on Sunday, 5 June, in the Bass Coast Shire Council Chambers, Baillieu Street, Wonthaggi.
Entry is by gold coin donation but bookings are required.
