Tenby Point Area Special Charge Scheme

Bass Coast Shire Council contractors have started road works in Bayview Avenue, Park Lane and Marine Road, Tenby Point as part of a special charge scheme in the area.

Council’s Acting Infrastructure Director, Felicity Sist, said the works included road sealing, a footpath and new speed humps.

“We know the standard of roads is important to residents,” said Ms Sist.

“Unfortunately with around 500 kilometres of unsealed roads Council will never have enough money to pay to seal them all.

“Through a special charge scheme, property owners contribute to the costs of the works and enjoy the benefits of a sealed and constructed road.

“The scheme includes water sensitive design which will ensure that water flowing from the road is clean when it gets to Westernport Bay.

“Residents who have contributed to this scheme will also noticed improved drainage as part of the works,” continued Ms Sist.

Council and Melbourne Water have also contributed to the scheme.

Terrafirma Excavations is completing the works, which are expected to be finished by August 2011.
