Inverloch a Finalist in the 2011 Tidy Town Award

Inverloch is one of six finalists in the Tidy Town 2011 Sustainable Communities Award.

The Award application was made by the Inverloch Community Planning Group in partnership with Bass Coast Shire Council.

Inverloch Community Planning Group has been nominated in four categories: Cultural Heritage - Celebrating Inverloch’s Cultural

Heritage; Towards Zero Waste - Eco Friendly town; Community Government Partnerships - Community Planning Partnerships; Community Leadership - Inverloch Community Planning Group.

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Community Planning Facilitator, Chabrelle Chisholm, was thrilled to hear that there had been so many successful nominations.

“There are so many community groups, partners and individuals who were involved in putting the submission together.

“All of these groups and individuals came together to show the Tidy Towns Judge the best that Inverloch had to offer,” said Ms Chisholm.

Ms Chisholm explained that Community Planning is about community participation, planning for the wellbeing of an area and promotion of these attributes.

“This nomination is a direct result of everyone’s fantastic work, so well done to all involved, “continued Ms Chisholm.

A presentation of Finalist Certificates will be made by representatives of Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria, at Inverloch in late September (date yet to be announced). The winners of the Tidy Town 2011 Sustainable Communities Award will be announced in late October.
