The $1.3m Inverloch Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse has been officially opened to the Bass Coast community.

Bass Coast Shire Council’s, Community and Economic Development Director, Steve Piasente said the new facilities are a credit to the club and will be a real asset to the wider Inverloch community.

“The new clubhouse includes training room, first aid facilities, kitchen, accommodation, kiosk, patrol room and an equipment storage room,” said Mr Piasente.

“The clubhouse will mean that members are able to provide efficient and prompt response in emergency situations.

“The club hasn’t had proper facilities since it was established,” continued Mr Piasente.

The old facilities used by the club included three shipping containers in the Goroke Street car park, a loaned storage shed at the Western Beach Caravan Park, patrol vehicle and trailers kept at the back of the police station and other club assets spread around the local membership base.

“Many community partners and individuals have contributed financially and in-kind to make this project a reality,” said Mr Piasente.

“The State Government, the Inverloch & District Community Bank, Surf Life Saving Victoria, Bass Coast Community Foundation, Inverloch Jazz Festival, Thiess Degrémont, LJ Hooker Real Estate, local Lions and Rotary Clubs, Council and the Club itself have all contributed to the project.

“This is a fantastic example of a group of people prepared to help themselves.

“The Inverloch community has got right behind the club and this result is something all of Inverloch can be proud of,” said Mr Piasente.

The Inverloch Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse was officially opened on Wednesday, 26 January at 1.00pm.
