Green Waste Free For Storm Clean Up
Properties across Bass Coast have been battered by strong winds and heavy rain over the past three days.
To help property owners clean up their properties, Bass Coast Shire Council Landfill and Transfer stations will be accepting green waste free of charge from Thursday, 23 June until Sunday, 26 June (inclusive).
Council’s Infrastructure Director, Felicity Sist, said she hope residents would take advantage of the offer and clean up debris created by the strong winds.
“The weather over the past few days has been a real challenge, not just for property owners but for Council too,” said Ms Sist.
“Property owners reported trees and branches coming down in the winds as well as leaves and debris clogging gutters and drains.
“By providing free green waste until Sunday we hope that property owners will use the weekend to clean up their properties.
“We are really only just at the start of winter and we might get this kind of weather again.”
Residents are reminded to separate green waste from weed species so the weeds can be treated. Tree limbs up to 150mm are accepted at all Transfer Stations. Tree stumps and larger limbs are only accepted at the Grantville Landfill Station.
