Drive Safe and Be Aware on Desal Roads
Damage to desalination haulage roads is still creating considerable concern for many Bass Coast residents and visitors.
Bass Coast Mayor and committee member on the Desalination Community Liaison Group, Cr Veronica Dowman is continuing to draw attention to the relevant authorities about the urgency of the matter.
“Currently there are three authorities managing the maintenance of desal haulage roads in Bass Coast which are Thiess Degrémont, the Pipeline joint venture team and VicRoads ,” said Cr Dowman.
“Council is liaising closely with the three authorities to ensure that damaged roads are repaired as quickly as possible.
“At the moment traffic conditions are changing regularly, so drivers should pay extra attention to any signage and potential hazards.
“We are working hard to ensure our roads are kept in good condition, but I encourage all drivers to also take responsibility and be aware that current circumstances mean some roads may be suffering damage.
“If you are unsure who to report your maintenance request to, contact Council on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) and we can pass your request on to the correct authority,” said Cr Dowman.
