Coronet Ramp Delivery Delayed
Council has been waiting to install the new Coronet Bay boat ramp which has not arrived.
Derek Hibbert, Bass Coast Shire Council’s Acting Environment Manager said an order was placed for the new ‘fleximat’ concrete block boat ramp surface on 20 October with an agreed delivery time of early December. Delivery in early December would have given Council plenty of time to install the mat and have it working before Christmas.
“Installation of this system takes just a few days, and our Infrastructure Projects team have worked hard to ensure that everything else is in place,” said Mr Hibbert.
Council with the local community have worked over the past few years to identify the best option for a boat ramp at Coronet Bay. Local boat users have given considerable input into the process and are aware that it takes time to get approvals to secure a boat ramp.
“We are disappointed that the ramp in not installed, however delivery of the ramp is one part of the project that is out of our control”, continued Mr Hibbert.
“We have done all of the preparations. The car park area has been mowed, sprayed and gravelled, and the hard stand area located between the car park and fleximat ramp has been concreted.
“This means that had the fleximat been received in time the ramp would have been useable prior to the Christmas holidays.
“Council has made enquires with the company about a new delivery date and we will update the community once we have this information and have reviewed the installation time line,” Mr Hibbert said.
