Kilcunda is the sixth Bass Coast community to have completed their draft community action plan and released it for comment.
Bass Coast Shire Council’s Community Development Team Leader, Kerri Ritchie, said the Kilcunda Community Plan was developed by the community, with support from Council.
“This plan has been prepared by community volunteers who are keen to contribute to their local community,” said Ms Ritchie.
“Group members have developed a vision, priority areas and possible community projects they are interested in pursuing.
“Examples of projects which the community have identified include a Community Connections project to establish a communications network, creating recreation and sports facilities and a safety project to ensure a safe pedestrian crossing on Bass Highway.
“It’s important to recognise that this is not a Council Plan, it is a plan developed for the Kilcunda community by the Kilcunda community.
“Council’s only involvement has been to facilitate the process,” continued Ms Ritchie.
At this stage the projects are just ideas and will need further investigation and discussion with possible partner organisations, authorities, funding bodies and the community if they are to proceed further.
The Draft Kilcunda Community Plan is on display at the Kilcunda General Store or alternatively contact communityplanningteam@basscoast.vic.gov.au.
Feedback can also be sent to this address, communityplanningteam@basscoast.vic.gov.au where it will be forwarded to the Kilcunda Community Planning Group for consideration before they finalise the plan.

The Kilcunda Community Plan has been developed by the community, with support provided by Council through funding provided by the Victorian State Government’s Community Support Fund.
