Procurement Policy & Principles

Council's Procurement Policy (PDF 195kb) and Principles ensure we get best total value for money, provide accountability and improve business relationships. Our Procurement Policy was reviewed in May 2011.
It helps make sure we follow best practice in terms of price, quality and service while meeting Council's economic, environmental and community objectives. These are to:

  • provide accountability for the achievement of best value for money in the procurement of goods and services
  • improve business relationships through a procurement process that is consistent and transparent and reduces the cost of doing business

Council spends tens of millions of dollars in the procurement of goods and services each year to deliver services and projects in the Council Plan. This policy sets out the principles for the procurement. It does not apply to refunds, grants, reimbursements, royalties, taxes, refunds, commissions, statutory fees and charges, property rentals and purchases, financial leases and rental.
