Immunisation

We organise regular immunisation sessions for children at venues across the Shire. Members of the community may attend sessions by prior arrangement and receive immunisations against disease such as Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B. These are not schedule funded vaccines and must be preordered and prepaid at one of our Customer Service Centres one week prior to attending a public immunisation session.

A copy of the 2012 Immunisation Program is available to download (PDF 114kb).

Why immunise?

It protects us against harmful infections before we come into contact with them in the community. Immunisation uses the body's natural defence mechanism - the immune response - to build resistance to specific infections.

Childhood immunisations

Immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting children against certain diseases. The risks of these diseases are far greater than the very small risks of immunisation.

All children starting school at prep level will need to have immunisation history statement for enrolment purposes. These statements are automatically sent out to your last registered Medicare postal address by the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register when your child turns one, two and five years of age. The five years of age statement is required for school enrolment purposes. Parents can also request a statement direct from the register by calling 1800 653 809 or from Medicare

Funded vaccines are available under the National Immunisation Program and are given by injection.
