Dangerous or Unsightly Land

Owners and occupiers of land are responsible for keeping their land in a safe and reasonable state. Unkempt land or a site littered with rubbish, is ugly and it also poses a health and community safety risk - snakes, rats and mice love to hide out in long grass and rubbish.

You must not allow land to be:

  • kept in a manner which is dangerous or likely to cause danger to life or property; or
  • unsightly or detrimental to the general amenity of the neighbourhood because it harbours unconstrained rubbish, derelict vehicles or contains waste material; or
  • likely to constitute a fire hazard because weeds, stubble or grass exceeds 15cms in height; or
  • likely to cause a nuisance because of the existence of regionally prohibited or regionally controlled weeds or has on it European wasps nests that are likely to spread to adjoining land.

Fines can be issued.
