The location

Cowes Primary School site in Settlement Road, Cowes.

The services

  • Maternal and child health
  • Playgroups
  • Long day care
  • Access to specialist services and parenting programs
  • Three and four year old kindergarten
  • Community meeting spaces

What will the Hub mean for my family?

The Hub’s design which is open, vibrant and full of natural light allows delivery of high quality services in the best environment.  The importance of learning and education can be modelled to children through early learning and care services right through primary school.

Locating services at the Cowes Primary School helps provide seamless services for you and your family and creates a stimulating environment for your child to learn and grow. Service providers can share expertise and resources, improve referrals and access to specialist services, and help your child with transition to primary school.

The Hub is designed with new proposed regulations in mind that increase staff to child ratios. Current early years’ facilities are old and need significant investment to comply with the new regulations.

Who will operate the services?

UnitingCare Gippsland, a Gippsland-based community service organisation, will manage the Hub and employ the staff who work in the early learning and care services.  Bass Coast Community Health Service will provide maternal and child health services. Other organisations will also offer allied health services from the site.

Currently, a parent committee manages the Phillip Island Kindergarten. Management will move to UnitingCare Gippsland later in 2012, closer to the time of moving to the Hub.  At this time staff employed by the committee will transfer their employ to UnitingCare Gippsland.

UnitingCare Gippsland took over management of the Kids House child care service on 1 January 2012.  There is no change to current service and location.

When will the services relocate to the Hub?

When the Hub is approved to deliver services, each service will relocate there. Until then each early years’ service will be provided from its current location.

How do I enrol my child?

Enrolment enquiries for three and four year old kindergarten can be made to the Phillip Island Kindergarten on (03) 5952 2336.  To enrol your child in Kids House child care, please call UnitingCare Gippsland at Kids House on (03) 5952 1677.

UnitingCare Gippsland will conduct parent information sessions at each location to answer any questions you may have.

How can I get involved in the Hub?

You will be able to become involved and support services delivered from the Hub through a parent advisory committee.

How much will services cost at the Hub?
