The proposed site for the Bass Coast Education Precinct is in McKenzie Street, Wonthaggi where Bass Coast Specialist School is already located. The first stage of realising the Precinct is the relocation of the Senior Campus of the Wonthaggi Secondary College. In October 2017 the State Government announced funding of $32.5 million for construction of the new college campus, including the commitment to construct a three court highball stadium that will be shared between the college and the community. This important piece of recreation infrastructure is funded through Council, Sport and Recreation Victoria, and the Victorian School Building Authority. Plans for the new college, including the highball stadium, are almost complete with construction set to commence early next 2018.

The next stage of the Precinct will be to improve post-compulsory education opportunities for youth (above 15 years) and adults (life-long learning). It is intended that the Precinct will offer the local community excellence in education and training through shared facilities, resources and expertise.
