The Affordable Housing Study looks at the impact of the desalination workforce on the local housing market, over the life of the construction project. There are three stages in this Study that will combine to provide us with an overall picture of the impact.

The first stage provided an overview of housing in Bass Coast before construction started. The Affordable Housing Picture and Housing Plan (PDF 2.3MB) was prepared in 2009.

The second stage included measuring the impact during construction, at a time when the desalination workforce was at its highest level. The Benchmark Assessment Report 2011 (PDF 1.8MB) details the results of this research. 

A final assessment of the impact will be done once the desalination plant is operating and the ongoing workforce number is stable.
