Inter Council Aboriginal Consultative Committee

The Inter Council Aboriginal Consultative Committee (ICACC) was established in 1997 by members of the Aboriginal community and the following Councils:  

  • Bass Coast 
  • Mornington Peninsula
  • Greater Dandenong
  • Casey
  • Knox 
  • Frankston
  • Cardinia 
  • Kingston

The vision of ICACC is to achieve respect, recognition, reconciliation, equity and health and wellbeing for Aboriginal people.  The members of ICACC will achieve this vision through:

  • Advocating and leading the way
  • Identifying needs, aspirations and service gaps
  • Making recommendations and developing strategies 
  • Contributing to and encouraging strategic planning 
  • The advancement of social and economic development 
  • Enhancing and promoting Aboriginal culture, society and heritage  
The ICACC Structure is composed of three areas: 
The ICACC Community Members’ Forum
The forum is open to all Aboriginal people in the ICACC area, Local Government representatives from the eight participating Councils and any person, organisation or government body which has an aim inline with the ICACC vision. 
The ICACC Governance Liaison Group

The group is made up of representatives from the eight Councils, Department of Human Services and five appointed community representatives from the ICACC forum area.  This group creates community partnerships between Aboriginal people and agencies and government.

The committees are made up of identified Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in interest areas of: 

  • Cultural Heritage 
  • Employment and Education
  • Events
