Disabled Parking Permit

How to Apply

You can download a Disabled Parking Application form for Individuals (PDF 106kb) or pick one up from any of our Customer Service Centres. A separate Disabled Parking Application form for Organisations (PDF 85kb) is also available for download.

Please ensure a Medical Practitioner completes and signs the second part (back) of the application form before you lodge it at any of our Customer Service Centres.

Disabled parking permits are available in two categories and a Medical Practitioner will be able to advise whether you are eligible in either category.

  • Category One - Issued to residents of Bass Coast with a significant intellectual or walking (ambulatory) disability. Category One permit holders can park in a disability accessible parking bay or a regular parking bay for twice the specified time (on payment of parking fee, if applicable).
  • Category Two - Issued to residents of Bass Coast who require rest breaks when walking or have a temporary disability (eg broken leg, etc). Category Two permit holders can park in a regular parking bay for twice the specified time (on payment of parking fee, if applicable). This category does not allow permit holders to park in a disability accessible parking bay.

Permit Renewal

A permit is automatically cancelled after the expiry date, or may be cancelled at any time for wilful misuse or breach of the conditions of use (copy of conditions are issued with permit). Category One permits are issued for a three year period. Prior to expiry a new application will need to be completed, signed by a Medical Practitioner and submitted to Council. Category Two permits are issued for up to six months. A further medical certificate will be required to be submitted to Council to extend the permit.

Travelling Interstate

Permits are recognised throughout Australia, however parking concessions may be different in other states/territories therefore you should check the local parking concessions before travelling.

Permit holders from interstate displaying the Australian Disability Parking Permit or the Queensland ‘red permit’ will be recognised in Victoria.
