Cowes to Stony Point Car Ferry

Bass Coast  and Mornington Peninsula Shire Councils and the Victorian Government are preparing a Business Case to determine the cost, requirements and viability of a vehicle and passenger ferry service between Stony Point, French Island and Cowes.

There are many potential opportunities that can be achieved as a result of a
vehicle ferry service which include:

  • Enhanced employment opportunities
  • Greater tourism connectivity from the Mornington Peninsula to Phillip Island
  • Increase in visitor activity
  • Greater access to emergency services
  • Better access to public transport

These opportunities have yet to be captured in a comprehensive Business Case.
Developing the Business Case relies on extensive and rigorous public consultation
in order to understand the needs of the local community and businesses and the
benefits that this new infrastructure link could provide.
Public Consultation will commence in September with two key phases:

  • Input into developing the Business Case
  • Feedback on the draft Business Case
We look forward to you joining the conversation.
If your are unable to make one of the meetings online surveys are available for Residents and Business Operators can be completed. More information is available on the Cowes to Stony Point Project summary sheet (PDF 620kb)
