Community Profile lets you analyse our community's characteristics and understand how they have changed over time. It also allows you to compare one area to another. The Community Profile is designed for use by community groups, Council, investors, businesses, students and the general public. It includes local demographic information from the Census of Population and Housing for 2006, 2001, 1996 and 1991 as well as Building Permit statistics dating back to 1996.
This online community profiling tool allows you to view data on Bass Coast Shire and smaller areas within the municipality (Statistical Local Areas/towns/areas). The tables and charts include information on age and gender profiles, multicultural diversity, housing and family types, incomes, education, employment and family composition for the selected area.

This old adage is never truer than in the demographic field and the Bass Coast Community Atlas provides interactive maps to compliment the information that we have in our community profile.
Mapped at the smallest level possible (Census Collector Districts), atlas.id® helps present the spatial distribution and concentrations of specific communities and highlights diversity within Bass Coast.
A range of maps are available, including maps on population, ethnicity, education, household type, labour force, how people travel to work, housing tenure and cost, and computer use.
What will Bass Coast look like in 20 years?
The Bass Coast population and household forecasts are designed to inform community groups, Council, investors, business, students and the general public. To achieve this, forecast.id© is formatted to present the data in simple, clear tables and charts with concise factual commentary.
Forecasts are available for various towns and areas within the Shire including Cowes/Ventnor, Inverloch, San Remo, Waterline District, North Wonthaggi and Wonthaggi/South Dudley/Cape Paterson. The consultant’s findings have confirmed that the towns of San Remo and North Wonthaggi will be the fastest growing in the Shire between now and 2031.
